Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, oh My!

Of Mice Ants and Men Earthquakes

Fujiwhara effect.
Go ahead.  Say it out loud.  It is fun to say:  Fujiwhara effect.
What does it mean?
Two tropical cyclones circling around each other.  And when Taiwan happens to be in the middle, it means getting hit by the same typhoon twice. - and this is only the beginning.

Last week, we had the 15th day of Ghost month.  Let me tell you a little about our week.  It started out with discovering (biting) ants in the bed.  That explains why Little Yony was not sleeping well.  We cleaned them all up.  Took care of the mess and moved on.  Only to discover at about three in the morning that they were BACK!  We ended up sleeping in the living room for two nights till all the stragglers were gone.

We had the two largest earthquakes that we have felt yet on Thursday.  They were just ten minutes apart.

By the weekend the typhoon hit again, and created a freak lightning/thunder storm.  I counted to see how long the thunder rolls were lasting, and got bored of counting at 60, even thought the thunder roll continued.  J. had just saved his sermon on the zip-drive when lightning stuck twice very close by, and fried the cord to our computer.  = dead computer.

Surprisingly, after that crazy week, Sunday when smoothly. If you would like to hear J. preach, or little Yony baby-cooing louder than J. can preach into the microphone, you are welcome to follow the link.

Ants, Earthquakes, being hit by the same Typhoon twice, freak lightning storm, and dead computer - that about covers it for our week.  How was yours?
Love,
     A.M.

Little Yony keeping everybody happy.

Notorious

A Story of its own.
Top to bottom
open sky and squishy floor.
Algae growing in the cistern
no room for your knees.

There is running water, light and TP!

This tree was called "The Four Sisters"
Each tree was about 600 years old, growing on the stump of a much older tree.

This Photo describes Taiwan pretty well.
It is a little surprising that there is enough room to actually walk down the sidewalk.

J. and Yony on the high speed rail.

Nap time on the bus.

"I love my daddy!"

Lotus flower soup, venison, and bamboo shoots for lunch.

Beautiful visual combination of organic and angles.

My little sweetie pie!

Letting us know he is a little unhappy, and wants us to do something about it.

The view from our room before it cleared up.
It was so nice to get up into the mountains and out of the oppressive heat.

Little Yo and his cousins!

Little Yo Yo likes to do lots of things with his cousins.
He likes to play with toys.

And give them kisses,

And see their beautiful faces.

He likes it when S. reads him his favorite books.
He likes playing with their dollies.  His cousins are teaching him to share.
While he is waiting for them he is learning to eat food.  Like mangoes. . .
 and plums. . .

And when he misses them, he plays with the drawing that they made for him.
We love you so much! Travel safely.
